—    If there was anything she lacked doing, it was actually stopping to breathe every so often. She leaned carefully over the railing, folding her arms on the bars in front of her as she shut out the chattering civilians and concerned shoppers behind her. She closed her eyes for a moment, taking in the first deep breath in what felt like three years. With a long exhale, she opened her eyes and spoke only to herself. “Damn, I need some caffeine.“ And, just like that, the magic was gone.    —

     He chuckles softly, resting the long curve of his radial bones over the railing, weight casually and unequally distributed.  The general was at ease.  "Sleep poorly, Commander?” He joked mildly, casting a sidelong glance at her.
