— Ѻ — Shepard looked concerned. Discuss a member of her crew? The only one she could think of that the Primarch could possibly have an interest in would be Garrus, and she could already safely assume she was going to disappoint the man. Garrus was a valued member of her team, so..

The woman gestured to the elevator,

“To my cabin then, Primarch. EDI, mind blocking any eavesdropping from my room, give us some privacy?”

"Oғ ᴄᴏᴜʀsᴇ, Cᴏᴍᴍᴀɴᴅᴇʀ.” Shepard went into the elevator and, once the Primarch joined her, sent it up to her cabin. Idly she peered at him,

“I hope none of my crew have been disrespectful, Primarch. If so, tell me and I’ll put them in their place," she offered, arms folded across her stomach as she watched him.

The rogue general-cum-primarch was not one for pleasantries.  When he spoke up, it was honest admiration. "When I heard that the humans were going to engineer a warship in collaboration with my people, I thought it was the typical public-relations rubbish."  He did not hide his open curiosity.  "And yet, every time I board the Normandy, I have never failed to be impressed."  They both knew better than to assume he was some whinging politician, buttering her up for news she would not want to hear.

"No.” He sighed at last.  “None of your crew has been anything but polite and helpful.  You run a tight, fair ship.  I think we both know who this is about."  He straightened, clasping his hands behind his back, his gaze fixed on hers.  "Garrus Vakarian.  He’s a competent turian.  And he’s one that can think for himself.  It’s not always easy to fit into a meritocracy, but he’s managed to work alongside it.  He’s a maverick."  A slight, almost acknowledging smile.  ”…Not unlike myself.  I could use people like that at my side.“
